What Can I Do About Passing Large Clots During My Period?

I just started passing blood clots as well, which has never happened before. My mom is a nurse and says she thinks I've suddenly had a long period with heavy clotting because I'm under extreme stress (medical school GURs). She didn't tell me if I could do anything about it to make it go away, but that I should just get lots of rest and de-stress myself. After the stress goes away, periods usually get more normal. I don't know if that helps.
