After several chews, 5 or 6 I think all the flavor has been savored, so let's get on to the next bite &
savoring it will not help lose weight, eating less, will help one lose weight.

Drink plenty of water so you won't want as much in the first place.
Slam down as much as you want quickly and then go out for a nice long walk or run.

The savoring part will not help you to loose weight but the time it takes to eat slowly will, in fact, help you to lose weight.  According to Weight Watchers and L.A. Weight Loss, it takes 15 minutes for your stomach to tell your head that it is full.  So you will still be eating 15 minutes after you really are full and need to eat no more.  Don't ask me if that is true or not...it's just the propaganda they put out.  Since they are both reputable weight loss organizations, I tend to believe them.  Eat slower, loose weight.  BTW, drinking a glass of water prior to beginning to eat and one during the meal will aid you in weight loss also.  Another trick is to keep in mind the saying, "If it's white, don't take a bite."  Forgo white bread, flour, white rice, white potatoes, white sugar etc.

Well, savoring every bite surely does NOT help me to lose weight. Upon first thought, I might say yes because as I sit there rolling it around in my mouth and chewing every last bite, I am WASTING much time. Time that one may think I could have eaten a couple of more bites. But, it just does not work like that. I have a favorite Mexican restaurant--Ninfa's---located appx 58 miles one way from my driveway. This food is so o o o o o good. The place is just one big joke for my daughter and I. The tortillas are handmade and it is delicious. We sit and eat and eat and actually ADMIRE the food, the cooks, everything. Throughout ALL of this drama that we make, I guarantee you that we do not consume LESS. I actually think that I gain weight savoring EVERY bite and just thinking about when we will return....before we EVEN leave.   LOL

You mean you never heard of the president that said he(you should) masticates at least 44 times each bite of food. Thus helping him digest better and stay healthier/more fit. Maybe this is a bit of history you did not know about.: ).just saying if it was part of a presidents idea of eating right then there must be a lot of truth to it helping keep your weight in control.i won't tell you which president so you can look for it your self.: )

It only works if you allot the same time to the eating. If you eat 1/2 the number of bites in one hour by going slowly, and then stop, yes, it could help. If you eat twice a long to make up for it, no it won't help.

Using that method to cut down on the amount you eat can be a good idea.

I'm not sure but from personal experience i find that if i eat slower & enjoy it i fill up & dont eat as much. If i eat quickly i can put away a lot fast but have that "Oh my god i ate to much" feeling of being miserable.

It could help you to stop from overeating.  It takes 15 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain its full, so if you are prone to eating A LOT of food really quickly and thus overeat, slowing down could allow you to feel fuller sooner, before you shove too much down your throat :)

So in that sense, it could help you to lose more weight..but this is something very individual.  You need to try it out and see if that is a tool which works for you.

The fact that you THOUGHT of it and came on here to ask about it shows me that it is something that can work for you, otherwise it wouldn't have been so prominently on your mind....so try it...but realize that you have to couple that with a low calorie diet or you won't lose any weight.

The only way you lose weight is by sustaining a caloric deficit.

Calorie deficit = eating below maintenance

maintenance = bodyweight(in lbs) x 15

More info on all of this here.

No. But chewing fast and a lot helps sometimes to me. And eating rather healthy but filling foods, take pear for example, works fine too. Water washes down the hunger at times too ..
