What Causes Spotting Before And After Your Period?

I had very light spotting for 2 days and the had a very light period for about 3 days and now am spotting again? Is there a possiblility that I could be pregnant.

Hormones. Some times you can spot if your are pregnant. I did with all 3 of my children. I used to get spotting in between periods, and my ob/gyn said it was from my nerves, making my hormones act up. But that was a long time ago, I don't have those parts anymore. Hope I helped.
