Do you mean a "dry socket"? It does smell like rot, though, and that is a key sign. The first is the pain you are probably experiencing. You probably rinsed before the recommended 24-hour waiting period and the movement of the water loosened the forming blood clot. Once that initial blood clot is gone, the wound doesn't form another; you have to deal with dressing the wound daily. See the oral surgeon or call the office for instruction on how to do this.
