There really are no hard and fast rules as to how big or small a stomach should look at any stage of pregnancy. Every woman’s body is different and will respond to pregnancy in different ways.
In addition, each pregnancy is different, some woman have had totally different sizes of stomach for various successive pregnancies.
As it is, many factors come together in the size, or appearance of size, of a pregnant woman’s bulge. The original size of the woman in question plays a part in itself. A very thin, flat stomached woman will generally show signs of an appearing bulge much quicker than a woman who was quite large before becoming pregnant.
Some women fail to show much of a bulge throughout their pregnancy, while others look huge from very early stages.
In later stages, the size of the growing baby will also affect the size of the mother’s bulge to a certain extent.
As it is, in this case size really doesn’t matter. As long as the mother eats sensibly, ensuring enough nutrition is provided both for herself and the growing baby inside her; without over-eating and thus piling on extra weight unrelated to the actual pregnancy, she will in any case become as big as she needs to be in order to accommodate her child.
If regular scans etc show that the baby is doing just fine and the mother is also in good health, it is unnecessary to worry over expected or unexpected size or circumference.
While there are no problems, it is therefore best to stop worrying, relax and not allow unwarranted fears to make this time miserable.
If there are any doubts within the mother’s mind that all is well, she should contact her doctor/midwife and allow them to put her mind at rest.
