If you are having a period then you cannot be pregnant. You will need to be sure that the bleeding experienced is actually a period as some women do still bleed when pregnant, but this is classed as vaginal bleeding and is different from menstruation.

If a stomach is bloated this could be for a number of reasons and not just because of a period. In fact, many women complain of a bloated stomach in the early stages of pregnancy.

Menstruation can only occur when a woman is not pregnant and if a woman is pregnant there a number of reasons why she could be bleeding. Some of the reasons for bleeding when pregnant are serious, and some are not as serious. Some women have very light bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy and this normally occurs when the period is due. This is known as implantation bleeding and is normally caused by the egg, which is fertilized, burying itself into the lining of the uterus, which is rich in blood. This bleeding is lighter than a period and will only last for up to two days.

There is an increase in the amount of blood that travels to the cervix during pregnancy and the blood may be noticeable after a vaginal examination or after sex during the early stages of pregnancy. The bleeding can also be a sign of a serious problem with a pregnancy; the most common causes of bleeding when pregnant are miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies.

If you feel that you may be pregnant and you are still bleeding then the best course of action is to contact a doctor or a midwife immediately just to make sure there are no complications. If the blood flow is heavy then the emergency services should be the first port of call.

Okay one...i don't know if you are a doctor or not. But if you are a doctor. You are a dumb doctor. YOU CAN BE ON YOUR PERIOD AND BE PREGNANT AT THE SAME TIME. It happens. Some people will have periods their whole pregnancy and wont know they are pregnant. Some people only have their period one or two months in then start missing them. But it can happen! So, don't listen to this person. They obviously have no clue what they are talking about.

My stomach is also hard and feels bloated. But it is more of my lower stomach. I push and push on it and it kind of hurts. When I try to hold it in or something I can't. I am on birth control and ive had my period recently and I'm afraid to take a pregnancy test because I don't want it to be true. I can't tell my guardian and my friend fears I am too. Could I just be paranoid? I hope so. :'[ what do I do?!

Bloated stomach is not authentic sign of pregnancy. Bloating can be due to many reasons. Most common reason is gases in stomach. Under the normal conditions, menstrual bleeding occurs when a woman is not pregnant. Some ladies tend to have periods during early stages of pregnancy. Reasons of this bleeding still needs more details. In my opinion, your are not pregnant but get pregnancy test for your satisfaction.

Well obviously you can take a pregnancy test to find out. I know this period that I am ending has been my worst. I am extremely bloated, and not constipated. So take a test and if its negative I am sure either your constipated, might have IBS, and if you are really concerned make a doctors appointment to see what's up. Best wishes.

I was pregnant about 16 years ago and had my period for at-least 4 months during gestation. It's rare but it does happen. I am bloated and have been for about three months but I am not pregnant. I also have not had a period. Now what do I do?

Well, it's rare for someone to be having their period and also be pregnant but I don't think that you're pregnant because lots of people get bloated stomachs and even though it feels hard that doesn't mean anything. My stomach has always felt hard and I'm not pregnant. When your stomach feels hard that just means that you have a hollow belly (not always but that's what it usually means) I hope that this helps
