Spotting, or light bleeding, between a period is extremely common in women of all ages. It is particularly common in younger women whose periods have yet to establish a regular routine as it can take up to three years to have a regular pattern with your periods.

The most common cause for spotting is simply ovulation and it is extremely common to bleed or spot during this time. Stress is a common cause for irregular periods or spotting. Stress affects your body in a variety of ways and causes your body to concentrate on the more important functions it needs to perform in order to survive. This can mean that the hormone that leads your body to ovulate may not be released at all or only a little bit is released which can disturb your cycle.

If you are taking the oral contraceptive and have either missed one, taken too many or taking them in an irregular pattern, could result in spotting. Try your best to take them at a standard time every day and do not miss any.

Illness may result in a late period or spotting between periods and so can a change in your body clock. If you travel to somewhere in a significantly different time zone or go from working days to nights, this can affect your period. A change in schedule will also alter your body clock and a new medication could also affect your period, although a doctor would normally tell you if the medication they prescribe you could have the effect.

Your general health and well-being can change your period, particularly if you are underweight or overweight. You should also consider the menopause or the simple fact that you have miscalculated your dates and your period may not be due.

There are some more serious causes which could lead to spotting and include pregnancy or miscarriage. If you suspect either of these, consult your doctor immediately.

If you haven't started having periods yet then your body is not yet reaching puberty and know one can interfere with that I'm sure your time will come don't try to rush your childhood  , unless your question is that you have periods and your late and worried then in that case you really would need to see the doctor for a check up take care

You have not indicated your age. If you have not achieved puberty and are below that age then wait to become adult because girls can get their first periods at the age of 9-14 years depending upon country where she lives because it also depends upon environment.

If you are adult and already have got your first ever periods and previously you were having normal periods and now not getting them then consult doctor first and get pregnancy tests if you are sexually active. If test is negative then usually, taking of oral progesterone for 10 days can induce periods.

This question requires some more information to answer like what is your age? Are you having any disease. If you are of fertile age and have no disease then have a complete gynecological examination including ultrasound to know about uterus, ovaries and basal layer of endometrium. Without knowing about these three things further investigations and treatment is useless.

There are two ways to avoid periods on particular dates. These are

1. Postponement of periods: This can be done by taking oral progesterone (norethisteron) 1 tablet 3 times/day from 3 days before the expected date of periods for 10 days maximum.

2: Advancement of periods: If you are having at least 20 days left in the event and your periods when you want to avoid periods, then take oral progesterone (norethisteron) 1 tablet 3 times/day right now for 10 days. On the 13th or 14th day you will get periods and by the time of event you will not have periods.

Visit a doctor to know the local name of progesterone in your country and prescription.

What is your age? If you are still around 13 you don't need it. Trust me. It will only drive you crazy. If you are around 18 and still have not gotten it you might speak to a doctor to see if he can help you but if you are younger... Don't worry, your time will come.
