I bought Riteaid brand ovulation kits, as well as Clearblue Easy ovulation kits. For 2 months straight I took it every single day, except when I was on my period. I ALWAYS had a negative. I was still doing ovulation test kits when I found out I was pregnant... So I personally hold NO STOCK in ovulation test kits.
I have not used an ovulation test before but I am a medical assistant. Not everyone ovulates at the same time. Most people ovulate 7-14 days some where in that time frame after the first date of your last period. You can take your temperature daily and on that day you ovulate your temperature should be slightly higher. Most will ovulate for about 12 hours. But not everyone ovulates during that time frame.
It is best to have intercourse daily if you can to make sure you hit the ovulation date. Make sure not to wear tight clothes and it is best for your partner to wear loose undies like boxers for better circulation. Also, after intercourse raise your bottom and legs up for a half hour preferably elevate with a pillow. That helps the sperm get to the egg. There are also fertility things you can try. The doctor can put you on clomid to help you get pregnant. It cost about $25.00 for a month for a generic prescription. I have tried it and I did not like the side effects.
I was told I could not get pregnant that I needed a hysterectomy last December due to my endometriosis. I looked online and bought a product called ovulex and one for my husband called amberoz. I was skeptical but I got pregnant that same month after only taking a few pills. I am now 31 weeks pregnant due Sept. 22nd. So it worked for me. There is not a high chance at having twins unless it runs in your family. Yet there is with clomid. I ordered the clomid online and they have a money back guarentee that you will get pregnant. I thought that was weird. SO you can try that too. That is my suggestion. It is all herbal too so it is safe, and you don't need a prescription from your doctor. Good luck and take care, try not to stress.

I've been trying ovulation predictor kits for 4 months (every day not just days 14-18) and every time it said negative. The doctor gave me a blood test and the blood test results said that I am ovulating. I'm not pregnant yet but starting not to trust the predictor kits.
What is interesting about me is that my ovulation kit says no but I purchased a fertile focus and it says yes. I can tell that their is a mucus change so I think I am ovulating.
I seem to be having the same problem, I tested for pregnancy on the day I started my period, just in case - and it was negative - after my period I calculated to the day when I am supposed to be ovulating, I have taken the ovulation test daily using the "Clear Blue" one and nothing seems to be happening except a blank circle! The answer above from Roccoganja says to have intercourse everyday, I have read many articles that say do not have it everyday because it lessesn the quality of the sperm - so now I have no idea! I also currently have cystitis and I am wondering if that affects the results of the ovulation test? Is it even possible to skip ovulation?
Same here I been trying to conceive since new years of 2010 and still nothing.bought tons of different ovulation test and all of them come out negative.don't know what else is there to try,I tried taking bbd tempature but I heard it actually just tells you your tempature but it tells you exactly your high tempature when you already ovulated,a bit too late to try to conceive.you have to conceive 1 or 2 days before ovulation so the tempature thing don't work.next best thing I guess I will try the pills.
Same over herre I'm trying to ge pregnant and nothing well I don't know yet but the ovulating test always come out negative like a dark line then a light line
The reliability of the ovulation kit is not 100%. Actually there is no technique which tell the 100% about ovulation. Ideally, you should have an ultrasound using transvaginal probe on the 12th day of the periods to know about the status of the ovulation. This will tell you the most probable date of ovulation. So go for that.
Me too, always negative. I think I'm going to go see my doc.
Been using CVS brand ovulation kit...always negative. Sucks. Having intercourse all week when I think I'm ovulating
Yes everybody doesn't always ovulate at the same time some people even during their period.. My doctor took me off birth control because it cause so many problems for me and I had to take. A class to know when I was ovulating n that was my birth control some people use it to get pregnant but its pretty much a charting method n easy to learn n it always worked for me I started the method 10yrs ago and I have 2 planned babies I'm not sure why its not a popular method.. It was nap pro family planning...oh n my babies are recently so it was a long time with no accidents :) now I have a tubel ligation so I don't do it any more...
