At the point of 8 weeks your unborn baby should have all of its body parts however they will be in its infancy in terms of development so the fingers and toes won't be more defined until the 10 week point where they embryo becomes a fetus. At 8 weeks your baby will have also formed the majority of their vital organs and they will constantly be moving around. They will also be around 10mm long and by the tenth week the baby will grow to about 3cm.
Once you have bypassed the tenth week you would have finished your first trimester and then be on to the second. As soon as you hit this period your baby will start to grow at a much faster pace. The skeleton starts to turn into bone at this point and the external genitals will begin to form. Moreover, the hair from their skin will begin to take on pigment and the hair on their eyebrows and their head will start thickening. The baby will reach 7 inches by the fifteenth or sixteenth week and the genitalia will be able to be identified via an ultrasound. By the time you reach the end of the second trimester your baby will be about 12 inches long and will be able to hear the mother's voice and heart.
In the early stages of the third trimester your baby will be able to open its eyes and will weigh close to 2lbs at 1 foot long. Now the rest of the pregnancy is dedicated to the unborn baby putting on weight and storing fat until it is ready to be born. By the 34th week the baby should weigh about 5lbs and just over 13 inches long, and will be ready to be born.
