If you are talking about avoiding pregnancy by using the method of counting days, understand that there is virtually no safe time in which you can enjoy unprotected sex. In general, (understand that this will differ from each woman) a girl would be most likely to get pregnant if she has unprotected vaginal intercourse just before or even just after ovulation. Ovulation will typically take place roughly 14 days prior to the commencement of a woman's period.

Keep in mind that even though women are usually fertile for just a few days in a given month, her partner's sperm can endure inside for a number of days. Thus she can potentially get pregnant for a long enough period of time. Trying to predict such "safe" days becomes especially difficult if the girl has irregular periods.

You can try the following websites to try and calculate your most fertile days. www.webwomb.com/peak_fertility_days_frame_page.htm. And www.health.ivillage.com/gynoperiod/prfertility/0,,4qm3,00.html.

A woman can become pregnant 10-14 days following the 1st day of her most recent period. So if your period started on July 1, you would be ovulating (able to get pregnant) July 11-15.
